Wondering where to eat in La Plagne? From cosy Savoyard restaurants and family favourites to memorable mountain lunches, every village has something different to offer. As La Plagne is made up of several villages linked by lifts and pistes, don’t just stick to the restaurants on your doorstep. Exploring somewhere new for lunch or dinner is all part of the experience. Here are some of my favourite places to eat throughout La Plagne.
Montchavin – Traditional Alpine Charm
Montchavin has retained the feel of a traditional mountain village and is home to some of the area’s most authentic restaurants.
La Ferme de César
If you’re looking for something a little special, we highly recommend La Ferme de César. Set in a beautifully restored farmhouse, it’s known for excellent regional cuisine, quality local ingredients and a warm welcome. I’ve recommended this restaurant to countless guests over the years and I love it!
Cocotte & Co
Also a firm favourite with both locals and returning visitors, Cocotte & Co serves generous Savoyard classics including fondue, raclette and tartiflette alongside steaks, burgers and homemade desserts. The friendly atmosphere makes it ideal for families and groups.
Les Coches – Relaxed and Family Friendly
Les Coches is particularly popular with families and its restaurants reflect the village’s welcoming atmosphere.
Les Pierres Blanches
One of the best-known restaurants in the village, Les Pierres Blanches offers hearty mountain dishes, pizzas and excellent lunchtime specials. The sunny terrace is a wonderful place to stop while skiing.
White Lines
For après-ski, burgers and a relaxed evening, White Lines has become a popular meeting place with live music and a friendly atmosphere.
La Plagne 1800 – Great for Families
La Plagne 1800 has a quieter village feel with several excellent restaurants.
Le Petit Chaperon Rouge
Housed in a beautiful traditional wooden chalet at the foot of the pistes, it’s one of the resort’s best-loved restaurants and has built an excellent reputation for its warm hospitality and authentic Alpine atmosphere. The menu celebrates classic French and Savoyard cuisine, with outstanding wood-fired grilled meats, indulgent cheese fondues, raclette and homemade specialities, all complemented by an impressive wine list.
Les Cocottes
Serving breakfast through to dinner, Les Cocottes is a reliable choice whether you’re looking for coffee, pizzas, traditional Savoyard dishes or a relaxed evening meal. Families particularly appreciate the varied menu.
La Cantine
If pizza is on the menu, La Cantine Plagne 1800 is an excellent choice, offering freshly prepared pizzas alongside pasta, burgers and local favourites in a lively atmosphere.
La Plagne Centre – Something for Everyone
As the hub of the resort, La Plagne Centre offers one of the widest selections of restaurants.
Le Petit Comptoir
For modern French cooking in an intimate setting, Le Petit Comptoir is a fantastic choice. Beautifully presented dishes and excellent service make it perfect for couples.
La Métairie
A long-standing favourite, La Métairie serves excellent steaks, grilled meats and traditional Alpine cuisine in a warm, rustic setting.
Le P’tit Bouchon
Looking for somewhere a little different? Le P’tit Bouchon offers creative French dishes using seasonal ingredients and has quickly earned an excellent reputation.
Aime 2000 – Surprisingly Good Dining
Often overlooked as simply an accommodation area, Aime 2000 has some excellent dining options.
Ginette à la Neige
Ginette à la neige combines contemporary décor with traditional mountain hospitality. Whether you’re stopping for lunch or dinner, expect generous portions, quality ingredients and fantastic mountain views.
Plagne Villages – Cosy Mountain Dining
Plagne Villages is quieter than neighbouring Plagne Centre but offers some real gems.
La Spatule
La Spatule is a lovely choice for traditional Savoyard specialities in a cosy setting. Its fondue and raclette are particularly popular.
L’Estaminet
Run by the same owners for decades, L’Estaminet serves traditional Savoyard and Alsatian cuisine and has become something of an institution within La Plagne.
Plagne Soleil – Small but Worth Visiting
Although one of the smaller villages, Plagne Soleil has a couple of excellent options.
Le 5 à 7 Sept
Le 5 a 7 Sept is ideal for a relaxed lunch or a drink on the terrace while soaking up the sunshine. It’s a great place to refuel before heading back onto the slopes.
Au Coin du Feu
If you’re after something a little more refined, Au Coin du Feu serves beautifully cooked French cuisine with an emphasis on grilled meats and regional specialities.
Belle Plagne – The Foodie Village
Belle Plagne arguably has the strongest dining scene in the resort.
La Bodega
La Bodega offers a lively atmosphere with excellent steaks, tapas and grilled dishes—perfect for groups.
Le K2
A popular choice for traditional mountain favourites, Le K2 serves excellent fondue, raclette and tartiflette in a welcoming chalet-style setting.
La Table du Carlina
For a more refined dining experience, La Table du Carlina combines elegant surroundings with beautifully prepared French cuisine, making it ideal for a special evening.
Bellecôte – Ideal for Skiers
Bellecôte may be known as the transport hub of La Plagne, but it’s also home to some great lunch stops.
L’Annexe
Restaurant L’Annexe is perfect for a relaxed lunch between ski runs, serving everything from pizzas to Savoyard classics.
Restaurant Carlina
Situated on the piste between Belle Plagne and Bellecôte, Restaurant Carlina is one of the area’s best mountain restaurants, boasting a large south-facing terrace and an excellent menu ranging from salads and pasta to local specialities.
The Best Mountain Restaurants
Some restaurants are worth skiing to regardless of where you’re staying.
Chalet de la Grande Rochette
One of La Plagne’s most scenic mountain restaurants, Chalet de la Grande Rochette enjoys spectacular panoramic views over the Tarentaise Valley. It’s easily accessible for both skiers and pedestrians and serves traditional Alpine dishes in a stunning setting.
Chez Pat du Sauget
A true institution above Montchavin, Chez Pat du Sauget has been welcoming skiers since the early 1970s. Expect authentic regional cooking, generous portions and one of the warmest welcomes on the mountain.
Le ChairLift
Located above Plagne Villages, Le ChairLift is a great choice for families, with a menu ranging from pizzas and burgers to tartiflette and raclette, making it perfect for a relaxed lunchtime stop.
Skiing Across to Les Arcs? Don’t Miss These
One of the great advantages of staying in La Plagne is the Vanoise Express, linking you to the equally impressive Les Arcs and creating the vast Paradiski ski area. If you’re spending a day exploring Les Arcs, it’s well worth planning lunch there too. A few favourites include:
- L’Arpette (Arc 1800) – a legendary mountain restaurant with a huge sun terrace, live DJs on selected afternoons and excellent food.
- Le Sanglier qui Fume (Arc 1950) – renowned for beautifully cooked steaks and classic French cuisine in an atmospheric setting.
- Le Savoy (Arc 2000) – a cosy mountain restaurant serving generous Savoyard dishes after a morning exploring the higher slopes.
- If you’re in the mood for lively après-ski, La Folie Douce Les Arcs combines live entertainment, DJs and a vibrant atmosphere that’s become famous across the Alps.

- Book evening restaurants well in advance during school holidays.
- Don’t be afraid to ski to another village for lunch—it’s one of the joys of La Plagne.
- Make time to sample local favourites including fondue, raclette, croziflette, diots de Savoie and blueberry tart.
