Chalet Chez Bugi sits directly on the piste in St Martin de Belleville, in one of those locations that makes a ski holiday remarkably straightforward. Leave through the ski room, put on your skis and within around 20 seconds you can be at the main gondola, ready to head into the Three Valleys. From inside, the chalet looks across St Martin de Belleville towards the surrounding mountains, so its position is just as impressive when you’re not skiing.

The main living and dining floor is framed by large windows that make the most of those views. Extensive timber, charcoal tones, textured fabrics and bespoke furniture give the interior a richer, more distinctive character than the pale neutral palette found in many contemporary Alpine chalets. There is plenty of seating for twelve, while a separate TV snug provides another space when everyone doesn’t want to do the same thing.

The open-plan kitchen and dining area gives you the option of long dinners at the chalet, but with St Martin de Belleville village so close you can just as easily head out for the evening. Six ensuite bedrooms sleep twelve guests, including two master suites on the upper floor, each with a super-king bed and private balcony. Four further bedrooms are on the ground floor, three of which can be configured as either super-king or twin rooms, making Chalet Chez Bugi equally practical for couples, friends or a mixture of both. A lift connects the different floors. Outside, the hot tub overlooks the piste, village and mountains, while the indoor sauna provides another place to unwind. There is also a dedicated ski room with heated boot warmers, which is particularly useful here because the following morning your journey back onto the mountain begins immediately outside the door.

St Martin de Belleville itself is within easy reach, with restaurants, bars and shops close by when you want to leave the chalet behind for a while. More importantly for keen skiers, the gondola connects you quickly into Méribel and the wider Three Valleys, opening up more than 600 kilometres of linked pistes across Méribel, Courchevel, Les Menuires and Val Thorens. Chalet Chez Bugi combines something surprisingly difficult to find in St Martin: genuine ski-in/ski-out access with the space and facilities of a substantial luxury chalet. You can organise the week entirely around yourselves, but the location means one thing requires almost no organisation at all: getting out skiing.
